Starting The Murphy Project: A Heartfelt Mission for Women Facing Hair Loss
This project has been on my heart for a long time, and I’m beyond proud to see it finally take shape. I’m starting The Murphy Project, a community interest company aimed at supporting women going through chemotherapy and hair loss. This journey is deeply personal to me, rooted in love, friendship, and a drive to make a difference.
I’m from North originally, and if there’s one thing we know around there, it’s looking out for each other is everything. Recently, I lost a dear friend to secondary breast cancer, a wonderful person who faced her challenges with such strength and grace. Her bravery and attitude inspired me to think about what more I could do with the platform and audience I had. I wanted to honour her memory by creating something lasting and supportive, something she would’ve loved.
For the past 7 years, I’ve been designing and crafting beautiful, eco-friendly headwear for women facing hair loss, doing my best to give them that bit of extra confidence and comfort. But The Murphy Project is about so much more than just headwear; it’s a community. It’s about making sure no one feels alone on this journey and helping women feel empowered and stylish at a time when they might not feel their best.
Why The Murphy Project Matters
When you’re going through hair loss, finding headwear that feels both comfortable and stylish can be a big challenge. Our headwear is designed to provide a sense of dignity, and each piece is made with care, using eco-friendly materials that feel as good as they look. But this project is more than just fashion. It’s about fostering a sense of belonging and support — offering women a place where they know they’re not alone.
With The Murphy Project, we’re also able to apply for community grants and donations, which means we can reach even more women in need. Every bit of support goes directly back into the project, allowing us to grow, create more resources, and bring in new ideas to better support our community.
Looking Forward Together
Starting a new company is always a bit nerve-wracking, but it’s even more exciting when you know it’s going to make a difference. The Murphy Project means the world to me, and I’m so grateful to be able to share it with you. Thank you for being here, for reading, and for supporting us as we work to make a meaningful impact. Your support will help us bring hope, comfort, and a bit of sparkle to the lives of so many women.
